Tips

This recipe makes several portions, which are ideal for freezing and saving for a later date.

If you're doing baby-led weaning, you can just serve this tasty first hotpot as it is; just make sure the lamb is well-cooked and soft enough for your baby to gum.

If you prefer to feed your baby purees, just blend the whole thing up until it's the right texture for your baby. You could start with a smooth puree, then gradually make it a bit chunkier each time, to help your baby explore new textures.

Variations

This is such a versatile recipe; you can swap out the main ingredients with whatever you have on hand.

Why not try swapping the lamb for chicken or fish? This is especially ideal if you're doing baby-led weaning, as it makes it softer and easier for baby to chew.

You can also swap out the carrot and peas for whatever veg you have lying around. A great way to use up any leftovers!

And why not try sweet potato instead of regular potato? Your baby will love the sweeter taste.

How many portions does this roughly make?

My 10 month old really enjoyed it. I added a splash of Worcester sauce too and some courgette. It cooked quickly and is a 1 pot meal, which is always a good thing!
