Struggling to find the right Valentine's Day card? We can relate. Luckily, we may have found the perfect solution with these fab printable cards you can customise and colour in yourself.

Valentine's Day is all about saying what you feel, but finding the perfect card that says exactly the right thing can be tricky. You might decide that the cards in the shops and online are either too gimmicky, too sickly, or just don't quite nail how you and your partner communicate naturally.

If you're struggling to find the perfect Valentine's Day card for your OH (we've all been there!) why not print off one of ours and colour it in (or get the kids to do it for you)?

Everyone loves a handmade card – it's thoughtful, less generic, and more creative. It'll also save you some of your hard-earned pennies. So for Valentine's Day this year, why not check out our unique, free printable Valentine's Day card designs?

There are 29 sweet card templates for you to choose from, ideal if you're struggling to find something you like in the supermarkets or online.

These Valentine's Day cards are great for kids too. They can colour them in and exchange with friends or schoolmates, or make one to give to you lucky mums and dads as a special reminder of how much they love you. At least that way, you're guaranteed a Valentine's Day card this year!

We’ve got plenty of cute designs to choose from – simply pick the one you like, print it out and decorate it. Why not get the arts and crafts box out with all your felt tip pens, paints, biodegradable glitter and sequins for a truly personalised card? It makes for a great rainy day activity in the run up to Valentine's Day, too.

Just don't forget to pop newspaper or a disposable table covering down first to protect your table, and as with any kids crafting activity, plenty of wet wipes on hand are always a good idea!

How to choose your Valentine's Day card

For the animal lovers out there, many of our cute designs feature animals in love – like intertwined giraffes, puppies and seahorses, while some have adorable teddy bears, cupid, or a little girl and boy holding hands.

You could go for something more minimalistic though, like the outline of a couple holding hands below a heart.

Choose a simple drawing with lots of room for colouring for younger kids learning how to draw, or alternatively something more detailed for any mini Picassos out there! And don't forget to get involved yourself for that special someone in your life...

Once your family have finished their masterpieces, why not stick your child's creations on the fridge or hang them in your window? Perfect for spreading all the warm and fuzzy Valentine's Day feelings to any neighbours walking around the neighbourhood.

Things you'll need for making handmade Valentine's Day cards:

  • Paper or cardboard to print them on
  • A printer/access to a printer (there are companies that will print them off for you, either in-store or via the post. Just check online to see what's available near you.)
  • Art and crafts kit – colouring pencils, felt tip pens, paints, glue, scissors, biodegradable glitter etc
  • Pen – to write your message inside
  • Envelopes – if not, make your own using paper or card

What to write in your Valentine's Day card

What you write in your Valentine's Day card message depends on who it's for. You may like to go for something short and sweet, especially if it's for kids, while some might like to go with something deep and meaningful.

You could sign off with the traditional 'Love from' or include a cute 'Will you be my Valentine?' message.

Or, why not include a funny or romantic poem in your card instead? It's sure to put a smile on even the most cynical partner's face this Valentine's.
