With the last couple of year being a write-off in terms of trips away, this long Bank Holiday promises to be EPIC.

But while we're all looking forward to a break with the kids, the journey there is not looking much fun. Gulp.

The RAC has warned that millions of us will be hitting the roads from today as we start our Jubilee Bank Holiday breaks with the kids. And they've revealed the worst times to travel.

Ready?

Around 3.6 MILLION people will be hitting the road on Friday 3 June. And the busiest times to travel on that day will be between 7am and 2pm. To beat the queues, they suggest travelling before 6am or after 4pm.

Thursday 2 June isn't much better with an estimated 3.3 million drivers on the roads. The busiest time on Thursday will be between 9am and 2pm, especially on the M5 and M25.

Sunday 5 June is thought to be quieter with around 2.3 million drivers on the road. And if you're travelling home on Saturday 4 June, the RAC suggests you plan your journey for before 10am or after 7pm.

Knowing the worst times for road chaos can be helpful, but if you're heading to a long-awaited family get together or break away, sometimes traffic can't be avoided.

Luckily, a mum has taken to social media to share a genius hack to keep kids entertained for even the longest of traffic jams - hurray!

On her Instagram account, @honestlyautumnb, she revealed that putting toys and books and pens in a shower caddy in the car can keep kids amused for hours.

She attaches the caddy to the car window using suction and it allows children to write all over the window while stuck in the car.

According to Autumn, the pen can be easier rubbed off with a wet wipe.

She said:

'How to avoid road trip meltdowns when you’re travelling with a child.

'Having accessible activities such as drawing on the window is the key to a successful road trip.'

Hundreds of parents have liked and shared the video with some describing the hack as 'brilliant' and 'genius'.

One commenting, 'Is it a whiteboard marker? This is brilliant!'
