We recently had Sunday lunch at the Black Tiles while visiting Suffolk. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant and spent a pleasant afternoon in the garden where our children (ages 2 & 4) played on the play equipment. From our initial enquiry as to whether it was ok to bring our children for a meal we found that the staff couldn't have been more helpful or encouraging. A highchair was provided as requested and as soon as we sat at the table the children were given their own menus (which included roast dinner, canneloni, pizza, fish & chips, fresh fruit salad) with activities printed on the back along with a pot of crayons. For vegetarians (like myself) the options weren't awe inspiring but at least there was a choice of dishes (2 mains on the menu and 2 specials.) The food was very good and the portion sizes generous. The staff were very well organised, helpful and had good senses of humour (very important when you have small children with you.) It is definitely advisable to book in advance as this is a very popular venue. My only notes of caution would be that children do need to be supervised while in the garden as there is a large pond and also no gates to stop them wandering out to the carpark/road. All in all I would thoroughly recommend the Black Tiles and we will definitely be going back when we next visit Ipswich.
