About

We welcome parents and grandparents looking after small children. Our aim is to provide a friendly and relaxing environment where carers can unwind and mix with others who face the joys and challenges of parenthood. The adults have a chance to chat over a cup of tea or coffee, whilst the children socialise in their own special way. We have rooms full of toys to play with and an exciting craft to enjoy creating.
During the morning we gather together for Storytime where the children hear a Bible story and can express themselves through singing and action songs.

The cost for the morning is £1.50 for adult and child.

Wednesdays 10.00am-11.30am during term time only. We are currently running a booking system to limit our numbers. If you would like to book a space or would like more details please Lisa for more details.

My 10 month old and I have been going to Shining Stars since he was almost born and we love it. From online sessions during lockdown to garden and indoor sessions, he always has a fantastic time. There is a superb range of toys and crafts for all ages, as well as a song and story time led by Lisa, to which my little boy joins in with great enthusiasm! It is also lovely to meet parents, grandparents and carers with children of different ages, something that we have sadly not been able to do for much of my boy's life. Shining Stars has a very relaxed, welcoming atmosphere with great leaders and helpers and I would highly recommend it to all those with pre-school aged children.

Me and my 16 mths old boy go to Thursday group.. it's good here it has 3 different big rooms one with trucks and trikes, arts and craft, baby room with sofas. They have tea n coffees and biscuits for adults and juice and biscuits for kids. They do singing at the end, which is fun! Has a free car park!! U just pay a donation. My little boy enjoys as he can run about lots!! :)

We have now been attending this group for 18 months and it is my favourite of all our playgroups. All the helpers and other mums are very welcoming and my son loves it. There are three different rooms - an arts and crafts room where there is a different activity every week, more of a toddlers room with cars, dress up, ride ons, trains, dolls house etc, and the third room has a specific area for babies which also has a couple of sofa's (unheard of at any other playgroup I have attended) along with a couple of small slides, a tent, a play kitchen area and a table full of puzzles. At the end of each session there is a song time too. Would highly recommend to anyone, no matter how old your little one is. I started taking my son at 9 months but wished I had taken him sooner!

We love this group and go every week and have been doing so for about a year. I felt welcome right from the start. The other ladies all introduced themselves to me on our first time there and so there were no awkward moments. To the previous posters I wouldn't worry whether your child is too young because it is nice to get out of the house and meet people. There is an area set up with baby gym, bouncer and play mats for the really little ones and comfortable sofas for you to sit on. A couple of the mums have had babies recently so you wouldn't have the youngest baby there. Definitely worth going to- my favourite group by far!

My daughter and I have been going to this group for about a month now and we love it! The people who run the group are so friendly and everyone who goes there make you feel very welcome! My daughter is only 5 months old, but she loves playing with the toys and watching all the other children playing. There's a wide range of activities, and at the end of the session there are songs and stories which the children really enjoy. I would highly recommend this group to anyone.

*My 2 year old son Thomas and I attend North Cheam Baptist Church's toddler group every Thursday and have been for over a year. I cannot fault it. I was introduced to it by a friend and neighbour but due to it being extremely popular they have a waiting list. I didn't have to wait too long and I'm so pleased I didn't, as I wouldn't know what I'd do without it. The leaders are so friendly and supportive and do everything they can to make you feel welcome. On the odd occasion where I have been unable to attend my husband has taken our son and he is still made to feel welcome and encouraged to join in and to come back. He has taken his nephew to another toddler group in the past and has been made to feel like an outsider but at our toddler group even when he is the only male he feels comfortable and welcomed by the leaders and other mums. There is so much to do too; there are plenty of toys for all ages and even a separate room for a weekly craft activity for the older toddlers. This room also has a train track, books, and puzzles. All the equipment is clean and in good condition. At the end of each session we all get a chance to sing songs and do lots of actions, all the mums are encouraged to join in and sometimes it can be a bit more like an aerobic workout when we're marching to the Grand Old Duke of York! But it is always fun. Because it is a church based toddler group there is an optional monthly toddler service which is held in the church. It teaches the children a simple bible story and starts and finishes with lots of singing and a chance to play some musical instruments. Not only does this toddler group provide so many activities but it has provided me with friends. Only one of my friends has children so I was limited to meeting with my ante natal group, which I enjoy, but I wanted to get Thomas to meet different children too. From this toddler group both Thomas and I have made friends. Thomas now has his little best friend Harry who he is inseparable with and I have made a very close friend in Harry's mum. This group has given me more friends too that are in the same situation as me and we often do social things together. And how much do I pay for this fantastic morning 50p!!! Can you believe it I only have to pay 50p! It sounds too good to be true, well it's not! As I said I can't fault it. I'd be lost without it.*
