Things to do with kids in Sheffield

Sheffield is known as the Steel City thanks to its industrial heritage, and was famous for producing stainless steel cutlery.

Today, however, the smoking chimney stacks are long gone, and instead you’ll find heaps of things to do with kids in Sheffield.

The heart of the city is dominated by one of Sheffield’s oldest buildings, the cathedral, which dates in part back to Norman times. In complete contrast is the Millennium Gallery, where you’ll find a history of the city alongside modern art and metalwork.

The Winter Garden is also well worth a visit: an oasis in the city centre, with over 2500 plant species on display, while budding scientists will love getting hands-on at Magna Science Adventure, which features an unmissable explosive pyrotechnic show.

Away from the city, you can blow away the cobwebs with a family adventure in the nearby Peak District or burn off steam in Millhouses Park, with its boating lake, play area and skate park.
