This was surprisingly filling. A basic recipe that is easy to prepare and cook (and quick) and although plain, is nice enough.

Why is it kids love sausages?! At least with recipes like this you know they're getting a half decent meal. My babies love tagliatelle, spagetti and orzo pasta best so try to use it when i can.

  • Guest

this meal I cooked tonight it was lovely and filling my 2 year old loved it and my 10 year old who is really fussy eater

  • Guest

I have to say this is the best recipe I came across to help my daughter to start eating more foods that were of a lumpy texture. I have always had problems with getting her to eat, especially foods of a lumpier consistency! I made this quite a long time ago now and she took to this straight away! It is still her favorite meal now :) I sometimes use passata as well and add some mixed herbs.

  • Guest

I've just make this for my daughter of 11 months who has barely eaten anything over the last week as she's suddenly become fussy after being such a great eater. She gobbled it up!! I use BLW so she fed herself and loved it. After taking her portion out I then added curry powder and some hot sauce for my hubby and he also loved it - a great all round family recipe - thank you!

  • Guest

My son is 14 months old. He feeds himself finger foods but not dishes like this. Do you feed your child this type of dish personally?

  • Guest

This was lovely and very tasty, think Its a good idea to add half a carton of passata as a previous comment says.

  • Laura N(227)

  • Guest

I didn't use sweetcorn but I added half a carton of passata and a little fresh red chilli. This was a big hit in my house and even the fussy one loved it - having initally said I won't like that!

  • nicola p(273)

I have used this recipe a few times now and my 2 sons, 6yrs and 4yrs love it! I add a few mixed herbs and a dash of Lea & Perrins for a bit of extra flavour, lovely! Definitely is becoming a family favourite in our household!

  • Guest

I made this the other month and the whole family loved it Iv now made it a few times as my older son 4 keeps asking for it. I added a few mixed herbs :) x

  • Guest

I am fed up of us always eating the same old food so suddenly thought I'm gonna find something different on here and give it a go, I found this, had all the ingredients in and just went for it (I'm not much of a whizz in the kitchen!) We all loved it and that includes two very fussy boys. I rushed it a bit and didn't soften the onions enough but am so glad I tried it, I'll definitely do it again, maybe adding different veg next time and possibly some oregano. We are going to try a different recipe off here every week now too to add some variety to our meals, but a definite thumbs up from this household anyway, easy and cheap to do too :) Thanks

  • Guest

I made this last night and everybody enjoyed it! Even my 21 month old! I added dried oregano to it, it was lovely!! Thanks x

  • Guest

I've cooked this twice and it has been a sucess with my 17 month old. She's quite a fussy eater so next time I'm going to add more veg. I batch cook it and freeze it and it fine as long as you heat it properly. P.S me and the hubby enjoyed it to.

  • Guest

Tried this recipe twice now, as first time I thought it was the sausage I had chosen that let it down - Definetly not. This time I picked my kids favourite sausage which never fails and its still not a hit in our house. I chose this recipe as all ingredients are enjoyed, just wont be using them together for this recipe again unfortunatly. If ur like me and thought this would be a great hit and like the ingredients I suggest u try the baked bean curry -fantastic and versitile. Wish we had liked this :(

  • Guest

recommend adding a large pinch of sage to this to make it extra tasty.

  • Guest

Just cooked this for my family. 2 fussy eaters (3.5 yr old twins) and they kept asking for more! They picked out the sweetcorn & bits of tomato so next time will try passata and some hidden veg. Has also shown that they will eat pasta with a sauce on so long as it doesn't have lumps! Oh, and I really enjoyed it too!!!

  • Guest

Im a childminder so im always coming on here for idea's to keep the children happy! Cooked this today adding in chopped veg to the sauce and they cleared their plates! Such a quick and simple recipie that can be adapted..very yummy!!

I do this dish all the time before seeing it on here & to make it more interesting I add peppers, courgette & extra chopped tomatoes to it & top it with melted cheese & fresh bread & it's delish. My 2yr old little girl has been eating it since she was on solids & she LOVES it, even the peppers. It's bright, colourful & tasty.

Tried this today, added a touch of sugar, worcester sauce and some chilli. Sorry but not for us. It just seemed to be a sum of its parts really and we found the taste quite boring. Never mind, plenty of other fab Netmums recipes x

  • Guest

My four year old loved this. Quick & easy to make with the option of adding different veggies etc. Will be making it again!

Sainsbury do creamed tomatoes in a packet rather than a tin and you also get "passatta" in a bottle. Would they taste better??

  • Guest

this is so tasty we all loved it and so quick and easy to make it was soooo yummy will def be making it again

  • Guest

I did this for my 2 year old and myself. She eats meat and I'm veggie so I just did 4 of each type of sausage, using two pans, and split the rest of the ingredients between them, which was easy. She wolfed hers down and my veggie sausage version was very tasty. Will make again as it was easy and tasty!

  • Guest

    yum yum

  • Guest

i made this -well my 4 year old did today and it was great,my 4 year old is so fussy with food but because he could see what was going in he ate the lot. i missed out the onions with mine cause i knew he wouldnt eat them but will gradually add different things to it

  • Guest

Wow!! I fed 4 fussy kids, and 2 adults on this last night, I added a couple more sausages, and a bit extra of the tomatoes and it was devoured in no time by everyone. Infact, i did too much pasta, so the dog ate it too (saved me on the days dog food supply aswell!!) ~Its a great, cheap healthy meal.

  • Guest

I also add a can of condensed tomato soup! this makes the sauce quite sweet and thick!

  • Guest

My 3 year old loved this. Thanks so much for posting. Tasty, quick and inexpensive!

  • Guest

lovely - my husband and all three kids loved it thank you x

  • Guest

I make something similar to this. Sausages / Sausage meat Carrot Cougettes Pasta Tinned / chopped Tomatos Herbs / onion I always cook sausages / sausage meat (both are yummy. ) Whilst these are cooking I prepare and cook chopped carrots and courgettes. I then boil pasta. If iv used sausages I cut them up, drain and add carrot and courgette and sausge and then add tinned tomatoes. this is yummy and i usually cook too much and have it for dinner the next day too!

  • Guest

This is delicious, i made it for my 9 and a half month old daughter and froze in batches ready and cooked pasta fresh to go with it when needed. She loved it and i just couldn't help eating some myself. Next time i'm making my own batch too! Thanks

  • Guest

I love this, cooked it last night for my husband and two sons aged 2&1 and they loved it.

  • Guest

1/2 teaspoon of sugar takes the "tin" taste away. I am going to try this for lunch tomorrow.

  • Guest

Try using passata instead, or let the tomato sauce cook slowly.

  • Guest

MY FAMILY LOVED THIS MEAL ESPECIALLY MY 2 1/2 YEAR OLD SON WHO IS QUIET HARD TO FEED .

  • Guest

I make a variation of this using a reduced fat smoked sausage. My kids absolutely love it and the smoked sausage covers that 'tinny' taste!

  • natalie a(51)

bacon works well with tomato and can take away some of the taste, or add a little milk or cream to take away the acidity. (a dessert spoon or 3 to taste)

  • Guest

Does anyone know what would be good to add to take away the the taste of 'tin tomatoes'?

  • Guest

made this last week, added a pepper and sprinkled with cheese, went down a treat

  • Guest
