Puddle Ducks delivers individually-tailored swimming lessons for babies, toddlers and pre-school children all over Dorset & West Hants. Our effective, instructor-led baby and child classes are all about fun, confidence, grace and safety in the water.
Babies can join our classes as soon as mum (or dad!) is ready to get in the water after giving birth. We teach life saving skills from as young as six months, so that should your child ever need them, they have a bank of invaluable skills that could save their life.
Each class lasts half an hour and provides a wonderful bonding opportunity for parents and their little ones. Class sizes are small, with a maximum of eight parent and child pairs, meaning we can offer truly individually tailored classes that let children learn with other children of their age, all at their own pace. Quality of teaching has been our top priority for ten years, and we're constantly evolving our teaching programme and methods to ensure your children receive the very best swimming lessons out there.
All classes take place in specially selected clean, warm pools and combine a carefully balanced set of activities including group and individual work, swimming, submersion, floating (without armbands!), songs and games. We're big on fun, and our classes incorporate rhyme, music and movement based on extensive child development research. Be warned - the songs are very addictive - you soon be singing them in the bath and in the car!

We started swimming with puddle ducks when our little boy was 4 months old and he has loved every lesson (he is 16 months old now). The teachers are amazing and so good with the children & parents! Duckling dives are more nerve wracking for the parents than the babies! I would fully recommend swimming with puddle ducks, the water confidence your child and you will gain from the lessons is so valuable -especially living by the coast.

We started Puddle Ducks when my daughter was 9 weeks old on a Thursday morning, she's now 13 months old and it's the best thing we've ever done! Her confidence in the water is amazing, she loves her instructor, Anna (thank you Anna, you're so lovely), and she loves all her 'swimming buddies' too. At about 6 months old she started to recognise where we were when we got out of the car and gets so excited! She can also jump in on her own from the 'big float' and actually laughs before we do underwater swims :-). I would highly recommend Puddle Ducks to anyone who wants to have great fun with their baby, make lovely friends and, most importantly, teach their little one such an important life skill. We love Puddle Ducks!!!!!

We've done one term of puddleducks with my now 5month old. The lessons have given me confidence in handling her in the water, swimming and floating with her, along with submersion (which I was terrified of!). The teacher is great and lessons are thoroughly enjoyable. I look forward to continuing lessons next term!

My son and I both love and look forward to our Puddle ducks class every week. As a non swimmer myself i felt it important for my son to learn such an important life saving skill and have fun at the same time! Jane makes us both feel comfortable and confident in the water, and lets us move at our own pace to get the most out of each session. Riley is now 21 months old and has been doing Puddle ducks for the past 4 months, i love watching his confidence in the water grow each week and see him achieve so much in such a short amount of time. Highly recommend for everyone, including parents that are not confident in the water themselves!

Puddle Ducks has been a brilliant addition to my week. My now 6 month old genuinely enjoys the lessons, as do I. The instructors are friendly and helpful and give me the confidence to let my baby learn in the water - I cannot believe how much babies can actually achieve with a few prompts! The administration/sign up process was quick and easy with all questions answered. A really enjoyable and useful class and a great company.

My son is now 15 months and has been a PuddleDuck since he was six months old. He absolutely loves his lessons and is now so confident in the water. I love that no flotation aids are used other that woggles and floats - for us, living near beaches, it is vital that Charlie learn basic water skills and confidence without the aid of armbands etc. It is a joy to watch how well all the babies respond to the songs and games, plus the staff are great. It is a highlight of our week!

I can highly recommend Puddle Ducks. I have been taking my Daughter Makani since just before her 2nd birthday. We are now half way through our 2nd term. She has learnt so many new skills and is now very confident in the water. I love that they teach not using armbands and only woggles and floats. Makani loves chasing after ducks and balls on her woggles. Shes swims with her dad who is disabled and he's feels at ease in the water with her and has been made to feel very welcome. They both love it and it really is the highlight of our week. Makani comes home trying to sing the songs and loves jelly on the plate and the monkey walk. Makani loves her teacher Caroline and is happy to let go of her dad and swim to her. All in all its the best investment I have made and I'm extremely happy with the lessons and Makani's progress.

I've been going to Puddle Ducks for 5 years with my two sons who both started swimming with them as babies. I'd certainly recommend them. From a young age I'm confident that both my children would have been able to reach the side if they ever accidentally fell in a pool or pond. Neither has ever used a flotation aid other than a woggle and even the little one can swim independently for 5m and he's not yet 3. Jane and her team are great.

I highly recommend Puddle Ducks swimming lessons. Both my daughter and son have lessons. My son started with them at 5 months and now at nearly 2 year, is incredibly confident in the water. He would be happy to swim by himself if he could, he constantly pushes me away he is so sure of himself. My daughter did start lessons elsewhere but moved over just after she was 2. The transition was incredibly easy and she fitted in with the new 'key words and signals' very quickly. She is nearly 4 and has already achieved her 5 and 10m badges. The teachers are incredibly helpful, they push your children when needed and offer a considerable amount of patience, reassurance and encouragement. I believe swimming is a key skill all children should learn and PuddleDucks is incredibly well equipped to help achieve confident swimmers from an early age. Thank you PuddleDucks.

My liitle one has been going to puddleducks for just over a year and when we go to public swimming people are literally amazed at how good she is. Her confidence in the water and the water safety techniques are second to none. The teachers are very friendly and even in group situations deal with each childs ability individually. My daughter cannot wait for her lessons each week and gets very excited when we enter the carpark! Puddleducks have enabled her to swim without armbands and she is still only 2!

I've been taking my 2 year old daughter to Swimming classes with Puddleducks since she was 5 months and I really can't praise them highly enough. The teachers are friendly and professional with a real talent for dealing with little ones (and their mums!) in the water. I would say that you definitely get what you pay for and other mums who opt for lessons at their local leisure centres are always amazed at what my little girl can do in the water compared to their toddlers. Brilliant!

Puddleducks is fabulous! My daughter looks forward to every lesson and at age 3 can swim on her own, dive down, jump in and swim back to the side - all without any armbands - best way to learn. The staff are very patient, friendly and the sessions are always a lot of fun. Highly recommend Puddleducks.

I started working for Jane in September so you can argue that I am a bit biased - but I have 3 children (now at school) who I took to swimming lessons elsewhere and I can see such a difference between what my children received in lessons to the classes run by Puddleducks. There is clear progression in these classes with everything deliberately and logically thought out and explained. Each activity is fun for the children but with a particular purpose in mind; from simply getting them aclimatised to having wet faces to teaching them how to instinctively react safely should they fall into water. The confidence in both the mums and the children over the past term has been amazing to watch. So as both mum and employee, I totally recommend you give the classes a try to see for yourself the benefits they bring

Took my daughter to one taster lesson and the confidence is amazing, she would get bored before after 5mins we went swimming the other day and she stayed in the water for 40 mins. We have now signed up for the term. The Lodge Hill Pool at Canford Heath is quite basic though.

I can highly recommend Jane's classes. I have been taking my son for 3 months since he was 5 months old and we have just renewed for a further term. He has loved every lesson and is very happy in the water. Jane is a brilliant teacher and having watched a couple of other swimming classes I would say that Puddleducks is worth every penny.
