You could use whatever apples and cider you already have in the cupboard.

Delicious :-) There was some fat I had to spoon out at the end but I didn't remove the fat from the pork before I started!

This dish was so tasty, the apples gave it a slight sweetness and the mustard gave it a slight kick. The pork was so tender it was literally falling apart. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so we made it again three days later.

This was amazing in the slow cooker. Meat was really tender and the apples made a good sauce.

What a yummy dish! My family enjoyed it a lot and will be cooking it again very soon now that all the lovely apples are in season. We had it mashed potatoes and asparagus. I just left out the cider cause my los are very little and it might have the undesired effect ;-0

Delish recipe very easy as you just bung it all in , I left out the grain mustard and put it in the mash . A tsp of cornflour thickened the sauce and was lovely for dipping bread in I would make this again as the pork chops were so tender and just melted in the mouth but I would add some chunky mushrooms . We have an orchard with several apple trees & a large sage bush so this recipe is ideal. Our family all enjoyed this recipe very much. I will certainly use it again & again!! I served it with mash & greens from the garden & sweetcorn.

I made this last night and added mushrooms and carrots. 30 mins before serving I added some single cream and flour to thicken the sauce. My husband and son ate the lot!! Fantastic recipe will make again.

My hubby thought it was too strong cider flavour but I think thats cos he cant stand the stuff after drinking it too much as a teenager !!! I LOVED this dish it looks unpleasant but tastes delish :-)))

  • Guest

Wow - a lovely dish - really easy to chuck together and so so delicious.

Tried this last week using the slow cooker and, just before the cooking was up, I took the cooker lid off and turned it to high to reduce the liquid. I served it with mash, spring greens and carrots for different colours and textures. It was an absolute hit with my guest,so much so I was asked for the recipe. Thank you.

I made this today using a pork joint. I added all the veg, onions, apples 500mls of cider and 500mls of stock. I cooked in slow cooker for 8-9 hrs. The pork fell about and it was so sweet. It was a lovely meal and I have got loads left over for another day. I served it with veg and stuffing. Lovely!

i made this today in my slow cooker, instead of cider i put apple juice in it, and 3 apples, i put crem freche in at the end and a little cornflower.served with garlic mash potatoes and brocoli. it was really nice, my hubby, teenager and 1 year old all enjoyed it, and theres even some left over for me tomorrow :)

We had this tonight and it was really tasty, although I didn't have any sage and I didn't use any stock or cider. My pork steaks had a bit of fat on, I put them on top of the apple and onion and they produced plenty of juice which I then used to make some gravy with some chicken granules to thicken The meat was lovely and tender and everyone enjoyed it.

Made this again tonight and i usually use pork chops, this time i used lean cuts of pork.. literally melted in the mouth!

instead of creme fraiche could i use soya cream as im lactose intolerant?

I made this dish last night and normally i'm not the best cook, but it went down a treat :)

  • Guest

This was lovely. I used pork rib seaks and stock, which needed thickening with some cornflour towards the end. A great tasty meal.

  • Guest

This was nice but it needs more seasoning. I made it with half stock & half cider, and added cornflour to thicken it up. The apples melted in your mouth and tasted beautiful with the meat. I forgot to trim the fat off my pork chops which is a must for next time! I have blended some up for my youngest too.

Loved this recipie, but think I need to experiment with different cuts of pork. I used pork steaks and found them quite dry, otherwise the recipie was delicious. I served mine with bubble and squeek mash and will definately make this again for the family, they ate every morsal.

This was lush, I'm not one for cider or sauce but did this in a stock and served it up on it's own (non of the stock) with the apples, onion and I added mushroom. Served with mash and veg was a winner all round including my little boy who doesn't like pork.

  • Guest

we make this regularly but instead of sage leaves we put sage and onion stuffing mix over the chops and then pour the cider on. it thickens the sauce a bit and really tastes good

  • Guest

I have just made this meal and i didn't like it at all it was to tangy for my liking and the cider was really strong even though i cooked it in my slow cooker for over 8 hours. My husband really enjoyed but i will not be making it again.

I made this in the slow cooker, added cornflour an hour before serving as it was very watery, and it was fine then. My 14 month old boys loved it with mash, mum and dad enjoyed it too!

  • Guest

I made this casserole and it was awful, very runny and not much flavour. Kids didnt like it and neither did my husband!!

  • Guest

Absolutely delicious! Taste great with our without the creme fraiche, and even between with the whole bottle of cider! lol

  • Guest

Delicious! Best meal I have cooked for a while! I also used pork ribs along with chops, to give it a bit more flavour

  • Guest

I hate casseroles but i made this for my 14 month old (i added a little bit of sugar for taste)and confess i have nicked a portion for myself! it's lovely, i'm still dribbling now! even more than my lo!

  • Guest

What a lovely dinner, I thought the juice to runny but added it to gravy and you could still taste the cider and apples, my fussy husband liked it too. thanks made a change having something different. Claire.P

  • Guest

It was ok, but I found the sauce far too watery. Next time, i'll add creme fraiche to thicken it up abit.
