We make these with half a glazed cherry in the middle before rolling in marzipan. I think dark chocolate works best with these as the marzipan is so sweet.

I make my dad marzipan fruits every year and he loves them, I use a grater for peel effect, cloves for stems, food colouring for colours, fruits like lemon, apples, pears, oranges, grapes and even a watermelon sloce last year will do the same again this year but might add a few marzipan balls too !!

I'm thinking of making these with all my minded children (various ages) & I have a question, Do you make your own marzipan (never made it before, lol) or buy it already made? (sorry i know this sounds a bit daft) Thanks, Debbie

My son and I made these for my parents for xmas. We put them in clean baby food jars sealed with cellophene and curling ribbon and they went down a treat. My dad ate them all though he doesn't like marzipan....mmmm!!

I made these with my kids aged 3-an-a-half and 22 months. We rolled them in coconut after dipping in the chocloate. Both kids loved making them - and of course eating them - though our efforts weren't the prettiest!

Made my first marzipan balls today!! I melted dark and milk chocolate, rolled the marzipan into little balls and rolled in the chocolate and then sprinkled with chocolate sprinkles for an extra touch! I made them as a gift, but they are so scrummy, Ive nearly eaten them all!! Soooo easy to make too! Thanks x

I used to make these with my Dad when I was kid but we used to make mini fruits. Using a clove for the stem we would make bananas, apples and oranges and paint them with food colouring. I use icing pens now and do this with my own children and they can come up with some real works of art. It's a nice tradition which keeps them occupied for ages and that's what makes christmas for me I think.

My mother-in-law makes these and rolls the marzipan around other things like glace cherries, nuts and pieces of stem ginger before dipping in the chocolate.
