Things to do with kids in Maidstone and Kent

Maidstone, the county town of Kent, lies just over 30 miles to the South-East of London on the River Medway, which connects with the Thames Estuary.

The area is home to many family-friendly attractions, ranging from baby activities to venues for children's birthday parties, so there are plenty of things to do with kids in Maidstone and Kent.

The town’s most recognisable landmark is Leeds Castle (confusingly, not in Leeds!) and is well worth a visit with the kids: its maze and grotto, adventure playgrounds and falconry displays will appeal to children of all ages. Nearby, Kent Life is an immersive visitor experience about the history of the county, where kids can explore a World War II village and make friends with the animals in the rare breeds farm.

Maidstone is close to the North Downs – the perfect place to spend a day with a kite and a picnic – while boating and canoeing are available on the Medway.

Further afield, Kent has lots to keep the whole family occupied, including the seaside town of Margate and the Mediaeval city of Canterbury with its iconic cathedral.
