Stuff couples fight about

Kylie Minogue, 50, has opened up about how her breast cancer battle prevented her from having children.

The Australian singer was at the height of her career when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.

She went into early medically-induced menopause during her treatment, which left her unable to get pregnant.

Reflecting on that time, Kylie told the Sunday Times Style magazine that cancer ‘changed everything’ for her.

She said:

‘I was 36 when I had my diagnosis.

‘Realistically, you’re getting to the late side of things. And, while that wasn’t on my agenda at the time, [cancer] changed everything.

‘I don’t want to dwell on it, obviously, but I wonder what that would have been like.’

Kylie also spoke about exploring other ways to have children. She said:

'Everyone will say there are options, but I don’t know.

'I’m 50 now, and I’m more at ease with my life.

‘I can’t say there are no regrets, but it would be very hard for me to move on if I classed that as a regret, so I just have to be as philosophical about it as I can.

‘You’ve got to accept where you are and get on with it.’

Fans of the Love at First Sight singer praised her for her bravery on Facebook:

‘Now everyone might stop harassing her about having babies..you never know what struggles a person is dealing with.. brave lady 💕’. @CharmaineGraham

‘It's another decision that is taken away from you, cancer already takes so much. I feel this pain 💔’. @KatyThomas

‘So important for women to understand the full picture when it comes to a breast cancer diagnosis’. @HannahHeather

‘My heart breaks for Kylie,’ @NatashaEaton

Kylie is at a good place in her life now as she just finished the Golden Tour and will be playing the ‘legends’ slot at Glastonbury festival this June.

She was meant to perform at Glastonbury in 2005, but her cancer diagnosis meant that she had to cancel her show.

Kylie performed at the festival in 2010 as a guest of the Scissor Sisters but has never performed there solo.

‘I’m bound to cry [on stage],’ she said.

‘It’s going to happen. When I was meant to be there, I watched it from Australia. I was dealing with much bigger things back then, but when I’m there it will take me back to when I wasn’t there.

‘But I’ll work through that.’

The pop princess also spoke about her boyfriend, Paul Solomons, 43, who is the creative director of British GQ magazine.

She said: ‘I can feel my face going. People say, “Your face changes when you talk about him” and it does. Happiness.

‘He’s an inspiring, funny, talented guy. He’s got a real-life actual job!

‘It’s lovely.’
