9 kids' TV shows parents have serious questions about

While these colourful, repetitive shows provide great entertainment for your littles - and a chance for you to grab a cup a tea or stick the washing machine on – parents often find themselves tuning in....and asking a lot of questions. 

Bing is a pleasant little show about a whiney bunny and his dad. Or is it his toy? His owner? 

In the show, Bing and his friends are all different animals who live in a lovely town.

They go to playgroup, the park and the shops and everything is perfectly designed for them.

But not for the adults.

The adults of the show can only be described as weird, badly made soft toys that are half the size of the children.

Flop, who is Bing's 'adult', can't even make a cup of coffee in his own kitchen without standing on a chair. 

So what's going on? Are these creatures raising the children for some sinister reason?

Maybe we shouldn't think about it too much. 

We'd be lying if we said we'd never watched Peppa Pig.

This sassy little piglet and her useless daddy have been entertaining kids and their parents since 2004.

But adults watching the puddle-jumping fun have some questions. 

The massive hills everywhere and talking animals suggest some kind of post-apocalyptic Britain where the animals have taken over, built hills over the old human cities - and possibly the humans themselves.

But this doesn't explain The Queen and Santa.

We've watched a lot of Peppa over the years and The Queen - who is made to look like our current Queen Elizabeth - and Santa are the only humans.

So what happened to the rest of them? Were they eaten? Were they all run out of town after Miss Rabbit took their jobs? I think we'll always be asking questions about this show. 

There seems to be no escaping Cocomelon.

What started as a harmless YouTube channel with catchy songs has evolved into a toy and merchandise overload and now even streams on Netflix. 

But as adults watching, don't you think the songs sound a bit...off?

The nursery rhymes sound nothing like the ones we sang growing up. 

As well as the weird songs, the animation is all over the place and the whole experience just seems like a fever dream.

But kids adore it so I suppose our main question for this one is, why?

The residents of Adventure Bay sure seem to run into trouble a lot.

You would think they might want to all invest in a functioning fire brigade or another rescue service with trained adults?

But no. If something goes wrong in the town, the only people (or animals) to call are the PAW Patrol.

The team is run by a young boy (where are his parents?) called Ryder who somehow manages to fund elaborate headquarters and vehicles for the crew of search and rescue dogs. 

So, the adults in this town are so useless that a little boy and his dogs are the only ones to save the day? It makes less sense the more we watch it. 

There are a lot of talking animals in the world of kids' TV.

It’s cute enough but in Hey Duggee, the rules are weird. 

All the kids in Duggee's club - which seems to be like a unisex version of the Scouts - are animals and they all talk.

Except Duggee. Duggee as the only adult and the one in charge is a dog and only woofs.

Do the children understand him? Why can't he talk?

He also seems to be a giant dog and very out of proportion with the hippo and rhino he cares for. 

Dora the Explorer is a lovely show that incorporates Spanish into the dialogue to help kids learn a new language. 

But when you really think about it, it's quite odd.

Dora is another child who's rarely seen with adults and spends most of her days talking to her backpack and a map.

So this begs the question, is Dora ok? Is she hallucinating all of this?

It would make sense given that she lives in the jungle, she could have been poisoned by something.

The live action film touches on this theory which must have been a relief to parents all over the globe as it meant they weren't the only ones thinking it. 

Ben and Holly is one of our favourites.

It's one of the rare kids shows that is genuinely funny and has some good laughs for mums and dads.

The story is about Princess Holly, a fairy, and Ben the elf who are both teeny tiny and have fun adventures together.

Their world is full of small fairies and elves who are distinguishable by their wings or pointy ears. 

But who or what is Mrs Fotheringill?

Holly's sisters' teacher is a small woman with neither wings or pointy ears. She seems to be just a tiny human. 

So what happened to her?

Did someone cast a spell on her? Is she an elf who had plastic surgery on her ears? What's the deal?

One that many parents have been watching since their childhood days is good old Postman Pat.

Pat has been making his rounds in Greendale since 1981 but I'm afraid to say he hasn't got any more competent with age. 

Every episode sees the blundering postie make various mishaps such as delivering packages to the wrong address, getting himself lost, not making a delivery on time or getting himself stuck in a tree. 

How on earth was this man ever promoted to Head or Special Delivery Services and why has he not been sacked?

Parents with school age children will be familiar with Numberjacks - a group of anthropomorphic numbers who go on missions. 

This educational show helps children problem solve. The number characters' personality usually is reflected by what number they are so 3 is an annoying toddler who moans because she's too young to go on missions. 

But will she ever be old enough to go on missions? If she's literally the number 3, does that mean she'll be age three forever? And how can a number talk? 

This might be educational but it's leaving us with more questions than answers.
