Kids are always on the lookout for the latest social media craze: from the TikTok ‘blackout’ challenge to the Sprite dare that Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards warned us ALL to avoid.

While some are fun, others are plain dangerous. Which is why as parents, it pays to know the latest trends that are sweeping the playground.

And this latest TikTok challenge is one you DEFINITELY want your kids to avoid …

Police have warned parents about a new shoplifting ‘game’ which challenges children to see how much they can steal in a day.

Posting on Twitter, Kent Police wrote:

‘Parents, please be aware of the latest TikTok challenge for youths to see how much they can shoplift in a day.

‘It's a game that is still a crime that could result in arrest!’

The Crown Prosecution Service says children under 10 can’t be arrested or charged with a crime. However kids aged 10 and above can be arrested and taken to court if they break the law.

It’s just the latest TikTok challenge that is worrying parents. Earlier this year, the ‘tongue piercing’ trend saw some children hospitalised after they accidentally swallowed magnetic balls.

The ‘go missing’ challenge saw kids deliberately go missing for 48 hours to see how much panic they could cause.

And the ‘outlet challenge’ encouraged people to plug in a phone charger about halfway and then touch a penny to the exposed prongs … a move that could start a fire.
