How to make model owls

Turn a boring old toilet roll into a cute owl in minutes.

Paint the toilet roll and once it is dry fold over one half of the top as shown.

Carefully fold over the other side of the top of the roll so that the two flaps meet in the middle.

Now you are ready to decorate your owls. Sharpie pens or bold felt tipped pens are brilliant for adding details of the eyes, beak and wings. This is a really quick, easy and effective way to decorate your owls.

If you prefer you can cut scraps of paper or fabric and glue them on to make the eyes, wings and beak. Buttons work well for the eyes too.

You can use this technique to make a whole host of model creatures - perhaps you could turn your roll into a penguin or a fox or a funny alien with pointy ears? Once again, your children will come up with loads of great ideas.
