How meditation can help with exam stress

Cathy says: 'Changing our mindset to believe in positive outcomes can have a huge impact on our ability to cope in stressful situations. It is about acknowledging those feelings of anxiety and learning how to accept them and manage them well.

Our bodies' response to fear and excitement is the same; it is our brain that will determine whether we are scared/anxious or excited. Therefore, training our brains to feel excited and prepared can be incredibly powerful.

We can do this by rehearsing success and practicing imagining ourselves going through an experience in a really positive way. The more we do this, the more likely we are to feel able to cope when that stressful or anxious situation arises.

It's all about changing those negative thought patterns into positive ones and using breathing techniques to remain calm and in control.'
