Portfolio Oomph is an online resource supporting students (school pupils or adult learners returning to education) making an application to art college. We offer one to one mentoring to work with students individually from our base in Midlothian, in planning and creating their art college portfolio.
We have eBooks and eCourses which are available to download that build your folio and prepare you for interview. We also occasionally run face to face courses.
Our site has a comprehensive blog that provides tips, advice, inspiration and more to give you the best chances in your application.
Portfolio Oomph was established by artist and lecturer Julie Read who has been at both ends of the system; helping students creating an art portfolio for university as well as interviewing applicants for entry to Edinburgh College of Art for 9 years. She led the student recruitment activity at Edinburgh College of Art (2006 – 9) which involved advising many prospective students and their parents about applying to art college and creating an art portfolio for university.
We work year round to assist students however our most busy times are September - April. Our eBooks are available 24/7 and our mentoring services are usually Monday - Friday 9 - 5pm, however we can work in the evenings by arrangement.
