Paediatrician Dr Robert C. Hamilton has been working with children for over 30 years in his practice in California.

He has now shared his number one secret to stop babies crying. It's his own tried and tested technique, which has worked on thousands of babies.

It's called The Hold.

The Hold

1. Fold your baby’s arms across their chest.

2. Secure their arms gently with one hand.

3. Gently support the nappy area with your other hand.

4. Rock the baby at a 45 degree angle. The soothing swaying helps calm them too.

One thing though - this technique only works on very little babies under two months old. After that, they're too heavy. One for mums of newborns everywhere!
