Hi ladies - I recently had my baby at 26 weeks gestation (now 12 days old) and am feeling very lost at the moment and looking for hope.

I had noticed some decreased movement from baby one night and went to the hospital where I was told everything looked okay. But the next morning my gut said something wasn’t right, and so I went back and a scan showed there was an internal bleed from my placenta and that baby was anemic as a result and so she was delivered via c-section. It all happened so quickly.

She’s now in NICU and within a week she’s already transitioned from CPAP to high flow and is solely being fed my breast milk. But despite hitting these milestone, on day 3 we were told her brain scan shows a significant haemorrhage in the cerebellum and that there is brightness on her scan that could indicate dead brain cells due to the blood she lost… She had an MRI which didn’t reveal anything more that the ultrasound, which they said is a good thing, but that they’re still very worried about her future prospects and quality of life.

They are telling us to take it one day at a time, but I don’t know how to have hope, and fear that she either won’t make it or that she’ll struggle her whole life.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of scenario?
