  • 2 Bramley apples
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp coconut sugar
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or dairy-free spread
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Core the Bramley apples and cut them into wedges.
  3. Add the apple wedges to a bowl and toss them with the cinnamon, coconut sugar and lemon juice.
  4. Arrange the apple wedges in a single layer in an ovenproof baking dish. Dot the coconut oil or spread in little blobs over the tops of the apples.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until tender, but with the apple wedges still holding their shape.
  6. Leave to cool for 5 minutes before serving warm with porridge, yogurt, ice cream, or on their own for baby-led weaning or toddler snacks. Keep any leftover apple slices covered in the fridge for up to three days.

Variations

These baked apple slices make a delicious snack on their own, and are perfect for baby-led weaning. But they can also make a fab ingredient for quick last-minute desserts. Try serving:

- simply with cream or ice-cream as a tasty, fruity pudding
- on top of American pancakes, with a drizzle of maple syrup
- with a quick crispy topping for an easy apple crumble

You can mix the fruit up, too! This recipe works brilliantly with pears, peaches and/or plums.

I struggle to get my toddler eating enough fruit, but she loves these with yogurt.
