Hi I'm so nervous about 1st March.

I find out whether my dd has been accepted into grammar school. She achieved the entry mark in the 11+ exam however i know if they're oversubscribed they pick the highest marks. We're in catchment so fingers crossed.๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

Does anyone know what time the decision emails get sent out?

I'll be at work and will be anxious all day until I know.

How's everyone else feeling?

If you applied online, log back on to check the arrangements because they all vary.

Otherwise, a letter will be sent and again the posting day varies. You may get the letter that day or up to a week later.

It's probably a good idea to read the school's oversubscription criteria on their website to fully understand how they apply them. The date of the announcement will be on there or on the Local Authority website - all details which you should already have. After the legal requirement for looked-after children etc which all admissions authorities have, will be those specific to the school. If it is purely exam result and there are a huge number of those who have reached the required score then all the places may be taken up with those. If it is priority to those who have attained a certain mark, and the next criterion is distance then those who haven't reached the mark but live closest to the school (usually distance as the crow flies) but sometimes a school will have certain postcodes, roads or areas which they have designated are their priority. Again - you should have checked this. It is rarely known as catchment nowadays as it is better for the school to have a distance which can be measured to ensure fairness.

I read the admission information in plenty of time before she took the exam and before applying

It is based on passing the 11+ exam which my daughter has. They then prioritise entries in order.

LAC, pupil premium, distance etc. The school has a catchment area which I do live in, however if they are over subscribed with girls in catchment they choose the ones who scored highest. That's where I'm in limbo until the day we receive the email.

She's done the hard part which was passing the exam so fingers crossed.

Oh good luck with this.. I remember how nervous some parents were.

We received the email at 4pm.

I believe the reasons could have been

a) parents wouldn't talk at the school gates, setting off a rumour mill, or upsetting some children who didn't get their 1st choice

b) the admissions office closed at 4.30 that day so if parents were thinking of ringing to complain... they would have to wait for the next day, which would hopefully give them time to calm down, think rationally before giving the call handler 'both barrels'.

I guess times change and every area may have different ways of doing things.

Hi, did you request to be notified by email? If so, the first batch of emails get sent out at midnight. I think my sons email came at about 3 ๐Ÿ™„. Yes, I waited up ๐Ÿคฃ. Good luck. Did your child score well below 250?

Aw I really hope it comes in the night, I went be able to sleep. I applied on the admission page and recieved the email to say it was received etc.

She will love which ever school she goes to I just hate the wait. She scored 278 just over the pass mark for our nearest grammar school.

Thank you for your reply. X

Aw thank you so much. I know some parents aren't as anxious it's just how I am. Trying to hide it from my daughter though as she's very calm about it all. I was like this whilst waiting for the grammar test results. X

Hey Lou,

like others say, youโ€™ll be notified by logging into the morning of from 8am. Also on a side, do not worry if she doesnโ€™t immediately get through, as you would be surprised the number of kids who donโ€™t take the option and the number of places left which will then allow you to be picked from a list until end of the first term, if you want to stay on the list for grammars youโ€™ve applied to, make sure you call, you must call, the individual schools to let them know you wish to stay on the list until the end of the academic year.

Mine got one particular grammar then 2 weeks later was offered a place at two more, and she got her first pick. I have friends who were also offered a place for theirs in the second week the year started and another who I made sure she called the schools her child took the 11plus for to stay on the waiting list until the end of the academic year and was called late in the academic year and got a place in the May of that year and they accepted so managed the last half term. Hopefully she will get the number 1 pick, but stay hopeful either way ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Hiya hun

Thank you so much for putting my mind at ease. I've explained to my daughter that she may get another school on the list which she is ok with as they're all local. It's horrible as they've put so much hard work in and passed for the school of their choice but the wait isn't over.

Thank you so much for the advice, I'll appeal should she not get a place and ensure I call the school to add her onto the waiting list. I didn't know this before.

If I'm this stressed now I dread to think how I'll feel in future. ๐Ÿ˜† xx

These types of sites are illegal in the uk.

I don't understand why pepole think cheating is acceptable even before it became illegal?
