Help!!

My 5 year old daughter woke up asking me to wipe her bottom coz it's itchy.

On doing so I discovered at my horror she has infact got threadworms!

I wiped them away with a baby wipe and she then said her privates are itchy too....on checking abit more I could se 1or 2 in her privates so got them with a wipe again.

I didn't let on to her what I found ad she was already crying and would freak out.

I told her it's just abit itchy and sore from maybe where she missed cleaning abit when going to the toilet.

Please someone help me on what to tell her, I feel absolutly awful for her and the thought of the disgusting things on her.

It is now 2:15 am and I am so worried and unsure as to whether i should tell her the truth or not.

Going first thing to get medication for the whole family.

Hello SW

I hope you have recovered from the shock you felt in the small hours of this morning. I expect you'll be feeling tired today.

A trip to the Pharmacist will soon begin to help you sort this out for all your family. You can read here, and what treatment is necessary and actions that are needed to be taken.

If you think your daughter would be upset knowing about this, then you could keep the information you share with her to an absolute minimum. Perhaps just say you have got some medicine for her to make the itching stop. I'm sure thats all she needs to know and would hope for.

Best wishes
