Classic '90s and '00s kids' TV show presenters: then and now

We’ve done some research to find out the fate of kids' TV hosts from the ‘90s and ‘00s. It’s throwback time!

Angellica was a regular face on CBBC shows including Xchange, 50/50, Short Change and The Saturday Show back in the ‘90s and ‘00s.

She's since had a number of presenting jobs, including her most recent appearance on The Martin Lewis Money Show. She also won Celebrity MasterChef in 2017.

In 2010 she also married former kid’s TV presenter Michael Underwood, who she met while working together on CBBC in 2000..

Most famous for presenting Jungle Run, which was an awesome show.

Michael Underwood, 42, presented several shows across CBBC and CITV including Ministry of Mayhem, The Make Shift and Starfinder.

Since leaving the kids TV gigs behind he has presented on Good Morning Britain, Surprise Surprise and GMTV. He is now married to Angellica Bell, and has two children with her.

She was the longest-running female Blue Peter presenter, but left the show in 2007 after apologising to viewers over a competition result that was faked.

She has since worked on Xtra Factor, The Weakest Link, Mind Your Language and Daybreak.

She's married to Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker.

If you remember Matt on Blue Peter, you must also remember his dog Meg. The pair were on the show for seven years, until he left at the end of the 2005/2006 series.

He has since presented on Countryfile and The One Show with Alex Jones between 2011 and 2020.

You can’t read these guys' names without singing the theme tune of their show, Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow, in your head.

The live kids' TV show was huge back in the ‘90s – with their pranks becoming so famous that some people still repeat them today. Especially their Bogies prank, where you'd go to a quiet place and say the word ‘bogies’ at an increasing volume until you were noticed or kicked out - oh, how fun!

The show was so popular that the duo performs an adapted stage version of Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow around the UK’s Butlins stages and UK festivals every year.  

He was the face of Art Attack, which had 20 seasons overall but he also appeared in and produced ZZZap!.

Before his Art Attack days, he was in a heavy metal band called Marseille, in 1976.

He's now an ambassador for the Prince’s Foundation For Children And The Arts and spends most of his time painting and exhibiting his work.

Kirsten, 46, first appeared on our screens in 1999 when she presented on CBBC and art show SMart. She also presented on the Sunday morning show Smile.

She now has three children and does voice-over work for Sky One. She's also the Inside Out reporter for north east England.

You may remember him with his blue stuffed friend Nev. He and Barney appeared on the Sunday morning show Smile in the 2000s.

Barney also presented Crush, which was a game show that toured UK primary schools and surprises pupils in front of their class by revealing the person they’ve got a crush on.

Barney’s most recent TV appearance was on Celebrity MasterChef as a contestant in 2017. He also presented Blue Peter until 2017. He's now a photographer and filmmaker.

Cat presented SM:TV alongside the most famous television duo in UK television history, Ant and Dec.

She also presented their spin-off shows, including CD:UK and CD:UK Hotshots.

When SM:TV finished in 2003, she went on to appear in adverts and has appeared on a number of shows, including Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and the revamp of Stars In Their Eyes. She's a patron of Great Ormond Street Hospital and is an active member of UNICEF.

This presenter is most well-known for hosting Short Change and Live & Kicking and Xchange.

Despite those shows no longer running, he still presents The Gadget Show and has a Sunday morning slot on London’s Choice FM from 9am to 1pm.

This puppet presenter was a favourite among CBBC viewers. He mainly presented the afternoon links on BBC One.

If you remember Otis, you'll undoubtedly remember the Otis Vision segment, where the aardvark would showcase his alter egos. The puppet left presenting behind him in 1997, but made a final appearance in 1999 for a puppet-based quiz show. He apparently left presenting to work in the BBC canteen.

However, the voice of Otis, Dave Chapman, went on to work with Dick and Dom and hosted BAFTA award-winning kids' show Undercover Dads! For CBBC on BBC Two. In June 2017, it was reported that Dave was performing a new character in the next Star Wars movie, which will be released in May 2018.

He was the face of Newsround from 1998 to 2008, which makes him one of the longest-serving presenters of the show.

After leaving the kids' news show, he went on to be an entertainment correspondent for the BBC, and appeared on BBC Breakfast.

This presenter was all over our screens in the ‘90s and hosted shows such as Live & Kicking and Top of the Pops.

He's still presenting today, but has moved from television to radio, hosting the breakfast show on London’s Heart with ex-Spice Girl, Emma Bunton.

He was the burst of energy on Get Your Own Back that gunged your annoying parents. And he's still gunging across the UK taking his gunge tank to Camp Bestival and Edinburgh Festival.

He also DJs, does voice-over work and occasionally appears on TV. He has also appeared on Celebrity Juice.

You can’t talk about kids' TV presenters – or any TV presenters – without mentioning this pair.

They started their careers on Byker Grove and subsequently had a pop career as PJ and Duncan.

They then went on to present on SMTV Live, CD:UK, Gimme 5. They also had their own show, The Ant & Dec Show from 1995 to 1997.

Everyone knows what they’re up to now, but for those living under a rock, they still present today, hosting I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Britain’s Got Talent and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

They've won the National Television Award for most popular entertainment/TV presenter every year since 2001.

Best known for presenting The Really Wild Show, Michaela was the reason we were fascinated with wildlife.

She lives between the UK and South Africa and now presents Springwatch on BBC.  

Like many other popular presenters, Holly’s career started through children’s television.

But before she presented on TV, she played a character called Zoe on an episode of S Club 7’s show, aptly named S Club 7. She then presented on shows such as Xchange, CBBC at the Fame Academy and X-perimental. She now presents alongside Phillip Schofield on This Morning.

This presenter started her career at just 15 years old, with The Disney Club on GMTV.

She also presented Diggit, Draw Your Own Toons, Eureka TV, Finger Tips, Smile and The Saturday Show. Other appearances included on the show Only In America with Reggie Yates.

She's now on Celebrity Juice and has her own fashion and homeware range with Very.co.uk.

Before his days on Catchphrase and Britain’s Got More Talent, Stephen was known for his magic tricks.

He presented Finger Tips and was even suspended from The Magic Circle for revealing a magic trick on the show. He also presented The Quick Trick Show, SMTV Live and Tricky TV.

Richard Bacon did a short stint on Blue Peter from 1997 to 1998 alongside Konnie Huq and Stuart Miles, before he was fired after admitting to taking cocaine.

He went on to host The Big Breakfast, Top of the Pops and Castaway Exposed.

He now presents a show that airs in America, called The 30.

You may remember Zoe from Live and Kicking and Playdays, where she presented the shows. She also hosted SMart with Mark Speight and Jay Burridge.

She went on to host and narrate a number of shows, including Don’t Tell The Bride, The Voice: Louder on Two and appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2005.

Simon worked on Blue Peter as a presenter for six years, replacing Richard Bacon after he was fired.

During his time on the show, he ran the London Marathon, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and did more than 40 skydives.

He now presents live Premier League football on Sky Sports.

He presented Live & Kicking, The Noise and Freetime back in the day, but can now be more associated with ITV and This Morning, where he occasionally presents The Hub and their competition segments.

He also had a cameo part in Toy Story 2 as male baggage handler 1.  

Diggit, Smile and Top of the Pops were just a few of the shows Reggie used to present.

In 2016, Reggie cemented himself as a serious investigative journalist after his BBC Three series The Insider.

Tess made her TV debut on The Big Breakfast, and her successful role landed her jobs on Smash Hits and SMTV Live, among several other popular shows.

Now Tess presents Strictly Come Dancing, and is married to TV presenter Vernon Kay.

Jayne presented The O-Zone with Jamie Theakston before moving on to Top of the Pops.

Jayne went on the appear on a number of celebrity TV shows, including Celebrity Master Chef, Celebrity Love Island and Pointless Celebrities. She won them ALL!

Zoe Salmon was the bubbly blonde who presented Blue Peter from 2004 to 2008.

Since her Blue Peter debut, Zoe has presented programmes on Channel 5 and BBC Three, including The Big Fat Truth About Low Fat Foods.

Katy Hill joined Blue Peter in 1995 and left in June 2000.

Between February 2015 and July 2017, Katy co-presented Heart Breakfast for Heart Radio with former Blue Peter colleague Stuart Miles.

Tim Vincent appeared on the children's programme Blue Peter between 1993 and 1997.

He's now based in the US, where he's presented some mainstream shows, such as Access Hollywood.

Anthea was a host on Blue Peter from 1992 until 1994.

Recently, she took part in a special celebrity edition of Channel 4's First Dates and Celebrity Antiques Road trip.

June first appeared on our TV screens as a presenter on Channel 4’s T4. She hosted the weekend show, aimed at teenagers, from 2000-2007 and interviewed then-Prime Minister Tony Blair for a T4 special.

June was awarded an MBE in 2007 for her services to broadcasting and charity. She also supports the Make Poverty History campaign.

She’s now a panellist on ITV’s Loose Women and Sky News’ weekly political debate show, The Pledge.

Toby first appeared on our screens when he presented The Broom Cupboard on Children's BBC from 1992 to 1995. He now presents the mid-morning slot for Heart radio.

Jake's career in children's TV started when he hosted Fame Academy alongside Holly Willoughby. He also presented The Saturday Show, Gimme A Break and Newsround. He's now moved on to sports presenting and is the presenter for BT Sport's football coverage.

Stuart (far right) used to present Blue Peter from 1994 to 1999. He has also appeared on This Morning, Lilly Savage's Blankety Blank and Simply The Best. From 2010 up until 2017, Stuart was the breakfast presenter on Heart Home Counties with his fellow former Blue Peter presenter Katy Hill.

Andrew was a regular guest on CBBC for some time before he landed a permanent presenting job, and appeared in Byker Grove from 1995 to 2003. He then went on to present on Blue Peter, UK Top 40, CBBC and The Saturday Show. His latest gig was between 2016 and 2017, when he played a policeman on Hollyoaks.
