Hi,

My 6 month old baby is only 6kg, she is breast fed exclusively and she seems to be feeding fine, she doesn't cry or anything. No vomits too.

I recently tried to give her formula maybe this might help but she's not having it, I Keep trying but she refuses the bottle and cries so I give her the breast.

also, not sure if this is linked - I'm very skinny too, my weight is 49kg.

HV stopped coming, tried calling last one that came but no response from her so had to call gp, first question they asked was if HV not coming. Then they said they'll let me know when to bring her in for weighing. Obviously this isn't an emergency for them as its the second week now and they haven't gotten in touch

Can I get any advise please?

Hi Winnie

Thanks for posting.

Have you been tracking your LOs weight on her centile chart? Which centile line is she following at the moment? From using the online centile charts a girl at 6 months of age at 6kg should be roughly between the 2nd and 9th centile. Is this her usual centile or has she dropped?

We usually allow for up to 2 centile above or below their usual line to allow for flexibility as we know there can be different reasons to affect weight which can be accounted for. If your LO drops more than her 2 centile lines this is when a review with the GP is needed to look further into this.

A weight alone isnt always helpful to track weight as we would need to know what she has been tracking over a few weeks to establish which pattern/centile she is following. Have you already had her monitored for her weight?

It does sound like she is content with her feeding routine at the moment.

It would be best to continue to make contact with your health visiting team if you have ongoing concerns for your LO.

Take care

Emma
