Ok so here goes.... basically my boss came into work and accused me of stealing/eating their chocolate they have left on the desk. apparently I must have been "looking for it to find it"as it was in a jar when I was looking for elastic bands.even tho it's really petty it's massively annoyed me,I was on a night shift and I was cleaning the office at the time.there were other comments said to other staff about me like"it's as bad as going into the fridge and stealing someone's lunch".any thoughts, options or comments please.

Hopefully you wont pay too much attention to the comments and I totally see why u are gonna be annoyed as this person is making you look bad, I have someone really annoying in my workplace who has something to say about absolute everything, it gives me a bit of anxiety whenever they walk in the room

My advice:

This could constitute workplace bullying.

If your boss thinks you stole from another employee or colleague, including themselves, then they should follow the correct company procedure and investigate properly, not hurl accusations around. They should definitely not be defaming you to other staff members.

I would consult with your Union representative if you have one, and consider putting in a formal complaint about your boss's behaviour. If you don't have a union rep, get advice from ACAS or the CAB.

Record any incidents relating to this, with times, dates and names of any others who witness your boss accusing you of theft. This will help you with your case.
