Does anyone know how to get rid of baby food stains on clothes, namely the annoying tomato sauce type stains that never seem to go away?
I've tried all the usual oxi, vanish type stain removers so now wondering if anyone else has had success, particularly on clothes that have already been washed.
Thanks all.:

i use the new ariel stain remover powder/gel on my babys clothes and find it works brilliantly. can be quite expensive but it tends to be cheaper in places like home bargins etc. also i know its a pain but i tend to try and take the clothes off them straight away to wash or at least keep them soacking until i can wash as stains tend to be harder to get out once they have dried. xx

rinse out food/poo as soon as possible using cold water, preferably while still wet. Put a small amountof washing up liquid on stain, rub in gently and leave for at least half an hour. Rinse this out, again in cold water, and put more washing up liquid on, then put in washing mashine and wash as normal. Don't bother with the marketed stain removers as they don't work (have tried them all!)

Also, once something dries on, it is extremely hard to get off, including if it has already been through the washing machine.

The washing up liquid also works on blood.

Spray with diluted lemon juice first...be sure its diluted or your whites will go yellow.

I second sunlight!

Its because the uv light changes the pigments in the natural food colourings (apparently, lol)When someone first told me to try it I thought they were winding me up,but it really does work,I put all of dd's bibs on window sill in the sun and by end of day the stains have usually faded!

Seriously, sunshine works, even through a window, mainly works on tomato based stains but also yellow and orange stains.

So pleased when I found this out saved a lot of clothes over the last 3 and half yrs!

Rinse in cold water ASAP with a dash of household soap.  Then wash as normal but with a scoop of vanish stain remover.

I have a bucket in my utility room for soaking and pop the items straight in there once stained.  I usually empty it every couple of days then refill with a combination of water and some sort of stain remover and soap powder.  Seems to do the trick.  Failing that, dye them lol

I have a nappy pail with cheapy Lidl stain remover granuals + cold water in - anything that looks like it will stain goes straight in there untill wash time, this ususlly works.

Sunshine works wonders too (ever left a black tee-shirt pegged out for too long? you end up with a dark patch where the material folds over the line)

Rainwater works well too, leave a stained item on the line in the rain & then to line dry!

Im guessing the sunshine would only work on whites, no colours etc. (oops, was that a really silly question?)
