Hi there.

I'm contemplating baby number four with my current boyfriend before it's too late. I'm 40 very soon. I'd just like to start a thread for us to chat about the worries and the plus/minus of being an older mum.

I have three children from my first marriage 19 DD, 14DS and 8GNC. Eldest has ASD, and second is borderline. Also feeling I'm likely to have another child on the ASD spectrum if I do conceive.

I'm 35, will be 36 in October, and currently ttc baby #4.

My oldest is on the Spectrum...which is ironic because of all my pregnancies his was the easiest. I took all my prenatals, I ate healthy, I got plenty of exercise, etc.

With my two youngest, I was so sick that I couldn't manage prenatals, healthy food, food in general, water, exercise... you get the picture. However, they're perfectly healthy and normal.

There's been some recent studies showing that too much b-complex vitamins, specifically B-12 might be associated with ASD. It might be worthwhile to pick a prenatal that doesn't have 1,000% DV because that no upper limit or toxicity value is *****. In the very least, your kidneys have to process all that excess vitamins.

Hi, I'm 40 and really wanting another. I have 3 DD's, 10,9 and 3. While we aren't actively TTC he does slip up during my fertile window. Each time for the past 2 years would not stick. They'll be times that I get super faint lines but never progresses and end up getting AF. At least a dozen times and wondered if it was due to age. I wonder if anyone else has had this happen. I recently went to my gyno but I couldn't muster up the courage to speak about it because I just didn't want to hear any negatives and afraid to even say anything. I did tell her I would love another and she was for it saying I should be able to since I've had 3 naturally but still, couldn't admit what was happening.

Stupid, I know. Here I am about 13dpo not positive as I didn't track ovulation but having faint lines on frer. I'm hoping you or someone can shed some light or have gone through something similar. Please share !

Ooh that's interesting I took pregnancare thr

oughout all pregnancies. I suffered from hypermesis all three times. I would think I have a genetic link though as my Mum is Aspergers, my nice has sterotypical Autism and her Dad sounded like he would have been too. Knowing more about it now I think my children's Dad is on the spectrum, although there's no others in his family. I wouldn't mind having another child on the spectrum, my worry would be being an older mother if the little one was low functioning I may not be around for so long.

Sorry lovely. I'm a little rusty with the shorthand now, is that 13 days post ovulation? You have faint lines on a pregnancy test? That sounds postive :-)

I'm sorry to hear that your eggs didn't stick I've read that this is more common towards the later childbearing years. Your medical professional sounded postive thoigh and when all said and done this is your life not anyone else's.

Hi, that's what i am afraid of with TTC at 40. Yes I was 13 days past ovulation currently 14 with AF due tomorrow. I wish all the best of luck for you ladies I can understand the hesitation being on the spectrum. I don't believe you're to old to have another. Go in fearless.

There's a few articles published that note that people on the spectrum tend to have higher natural levels of B-12, either because they're more efficient at storing it or less efficient at eliminating it. Definitely interesting to think about. This would explain a genetic link as it would be something physiological in how their body works.

How fascinating, I'm definitely going to do some further reading into this!

We've just slipped up too and I'm on my ovulation weekend. So we will see if anything happens. I haven't had experience of zygote (?) not sticking but the last time I had lots of unprotected sex, conceiving my youngest I was 31 and with my first ex-husband. Who is particularly fertile (we have three and he has another little one with his new wife). My new boyfriend (of four months) probably has fertility problems as both ex-partners in his 20s didn't conceive in a 2 and 3 year window. I am nearly 40 and he has just turned 39. I don't have big expectations, just that you never know. So, if I have the same sort of problems I will share it here. But, I think it will be unlikely for us to conceive at all.

Hello,

I am very nearly 40 and want to start TTC. I am new to this forum.

Worried about the risks etc of a pregnancy at 40, but I really hope it happens quickly.

Nice to know I'm not alone considering this
