Hi guys my lo is 8 months old this week. He’s suddenly gone really fussy on foods and will only eat 2 jars “cheesy tomato pasta” and “sweet potato and tender chicken” he’s at nursery and when he first had his visits he was happily trying the food that was cooked blended and the last week or so he’s completely refusing it and only wants the 2 jars? Is this anything to be concerned about? He’s happily having pudding of all sorts and snacks. I gave him toast, cucumber and some puffs this evening and he happily had that too. But anything apart from those jars being fed by spoon he will just gag and spit out?

Hi Chereisee

Thanks for posting

It can be normal for LOs to go through phases of only wanting certain foods or textures. Usually this is short lived.

Has your LO only had jars before? Just wondering about how long or how often has he tried home made foods to mimic the flavours in his favourite jars.

Weaning is all about positive relationships with food and opportunity to experience new foods through play. You may find letting your LO play with food and eating together so he has positive role modelling behaviour.

Some parents will use a mix of foods to help encourage a variety of foods.

Being consistent and allowing time will all help with your LOs eating.

I wonder if the below links would be helpful for you;

I hope this helps

Hi we started with jars just doing them for his food then he started nursery begging of msg and began trying foods blended and he was doing really well and he’s now stopped. So you wouldn’t say this is anything to be concerned about? It’s my first so the littlest things worry me x

Hi Chereisse

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about. As your LO is still quite young he is still taking it all in about weaning. Have you had a chance to look at the links?
