Preemie baby at 30 weeks

Had my baby at 30 weeks on Thursday 1st april, she's measured at 1.74 kilos what are chances of her coming home soon, she's not on oxygen is breathing for herself , she been really good and has started showing signs of suckling ! I'm just hoping we can bring her home soon , what do nenotal doctors look for before discharging a premie baby ?

Hi Natalie

its good to know that your prem is doing all well. Mine born last year at 30weeks in August and he stayed there for four weeks as they want them to stay until the due date but because he was doing well and breathing and sucking was good and he was gaining weight so then they think you and baby to discharge from there.

Mainly they want baby to start breastfeeding and looking after his/her weight.

hopefully your one come home soon so you can enjoy your motherhood.
