Could someone please advise me on the best phone monitoring app. I have tried Kapersky and its useless in the UK and doesn't work that well with iphone . I feel this is my only option as my 11y daughter is driving us crazy accessing adult content on her phone and she needs the phone as she travels on the bus to school and i need to monitor her.
I have tried talking to her about online dangers , that didnt work.

If i had known parenting was this hard i swear i would never had kids.

Get her a cheap pay as you go phone .. so she can call out for help and you can call her.. if she’s up to what you describe already.. it will only get worse.. don’t even consider getting et her a smart phone for years no matter how many tantrums she has. It’s clearly not worth it for your sanity and her well being.

I have "family link" on my 12 Yr old's phone. You have various options including blocking apps / time limits for each app / no apps allowed.
I only use it occasionally to block all apps if he's on a tech ban. Then he doesn't have to hand the phone over, and can still use it for emergency calls.

Hi, I don't know how it works but my parents used to block adult content through the mobile phone sim provider, it may be worth asking them if its through mobile data she's accessing this content. Could you ring apple with your daughter's apple ID and ask them what's possible on their side?
Also with internet at home (WiFi) you can ring your provider and have a straight up block on all forget websites and plus 18 websites, however that will also affect what the adults in the property can access. There is another way though my partner showed me (after I questioned why as a kid I could access certain things on my dad's laptop and not my phone), it requires accessing your routers settings on your phone or laptop, finding your daughter's phone and blocking certain content to her phone. This can also play a very useful part in when kids haven't done their homework, just shut their internet off without the whole router going off.
That all being said and done, you want to keep an eye out for certain websites that seem innocent like "pirate bay" and "ultra surf" to anyone who doesn't know it seems like an innocent search, but there proxy websites, they take you through a VPN (ultra surf can be downloaded as a VPN search on PC too), were everything's hidden away. It's the same with "incognito" on Google aswell.
These websites are used when you don't want your history to be seen, it may seem crazy suggesting you look for them since she's only 11, but I used similar in school, totally bypassed schools internet blocks and accessed social media and games ect.
As a parent id familiarise yourself with the "slang" of today, so when you read through messages you can get an idea of what's been said, there's some scary things that get shortened down!

I used Qustodio for a few years when my daughter was younger, the package I was on cost about £40 a year and covered 5 devices (I used it on my daughters phone, tablet and laptop). I have to say it was fantastic, not only can you block certain sites but you can also block using key words, it tracks phone calls, you can read text messages they receive, alerts you if they try to access restricted sites, you can set up a panic button on their phone for emergencies and it has a gps tracking feature. My daughter was fully aware of the monitoring.

First question is why does a 11 year old need a iPhone for? It drove me crazy that my brother had iPhones when he was a kid.

Take the phone off her, replace it with a basic one with no internet connection at all. Or simply change the access details on your daughters phone. I know all major UK networks how have filters to block adult content which only can an adult can change or change the password for the internet so she can't access it.

I'm an android user but my husband and daughter are on Apple. He controls her device using the iPhone parental settings. She is 13 but he has her phone pretty locked down. She can't access some webpages. She has to ask permission to download apps. She can't buy anything using her phone. They are a savvy lot and they will always find a way but it is pretty effective for us.

Hi I’m sorry your having problems. My 2 teens have iPhones I go into screen time (use a password they don’t know) and block all inappropriate apps and content. That way they can’t access things that I deem dodgy etc good luck x

MM guardian is a useful app. My daughter started secondary school and she needs her phone for school homework, and even during lessons they need the phone at times. This app picks up any websites accessed, words used in messages and etc... I would greatly recommend. Hope you get it sorted.

I use family link for my 12 year old daughter.
There are various controls you can access. I. E, you can lock their phone for some screen free time, you can access allow them to download apps with your consent

Hi, yes I’ve teenagers and it’s quite worrying. If you can’t control at 11 it’s going to be impossible. I use OurPact - you have to install it on their phone and link it to your own phone. It allows you to turn all apps off at the click of a switch - or you can set it on timers. Timers work better as they get to know when they’ve access and work with that. My two weren’t doing anything bad they were just sooo addicted and sitting up to all hours and couldn’t get up for school. There is also an upgrade on it where you can take screenshots of what your child is viewing . I don’t use this at present but may well do in the future!! Kids eventually worked out via internet how to remove it from their phone but they were warned beforehand that if they did so they’d lose the whole phone for a fortnight. Also I’m happy for them to go where they like - as long as I can see on ‘Find My Friends’ (iPhone) where they are. If the FMF goes off - so does the phone! Kids hate this but it’s just tough love until they’re old enough to make sensible decisions!! Stay calm xx

Hiya! I have to admit I had EXACTLY the same problem with my 11 year old! After speaking to her multiple times I told her if it continues we will be getting her a pay as you go phone. Instead we decided to block the internet all together so she only has access to calling texting playing games etc and I must say it has helped a treat! I hope this helps xx

Oh this is so difficult. I use Qustodio. You can limit access to specific time, and block out certain times of day, so at that age I was blocking out 8pm-7am, to ensure there is wind down time, and then blocked out again weekdays 8am - 9am so it didn’t interfere w getting ready for school. Blocks of 15mins I think.
Can block content and types of content. I chose this software as you can set a child’s profile to combine two devices, ie phone and iPad, so they can use ie 2 hrs max, between the devices however they like.
Other great options too, but at time of purchase no others in my shortlist combined devices.
There is a free option, and I can’t remember why I chose premium, but maybe free can work for you! At least to try it
Good luck
