49 cringe things we ALL remember doing on a night out in the 2000s

We all remember those nights out back in the 2000s – getting ready while listening to our favourite Christina Milian tracks, and straightening our hair until there wasn't a kink in sight. How many of these can you tick off?

These bad boys would be our saviour on a night out, when we couldn't quite get our hair as poker-straight as we wanted.

Preferably at least four shades darker than your lipstick.

Even on a night out, inspired by Britney and Paris, the newsboy hat was the style of the early 2000s.

Everyone had one of these phones in the 2000s. I bet you can even remember the text tone?!

Which were also highly embellished with studs, zips, diamantes, or all three.

Our make-up looks weren't complete without a brightly coloured, sparkly eyeshadow to make our eyes really POP.

Hair mousse and hairspray a-plenty was vital to get the crunchy look, if you had curly hair. Super dangerous, too, as people were still able to smoke in clubs and pubs until 2007 in the UK. A massive fire hazard!

Thinking it was OK to string feathers around our necks and go out like that ...

Christina Aguilera could totally pull it off, so why couldn't we?!

If you were going to cover your hair disaster up with anything, it had to be something stylish.

We'd be smelling our best if we were covered in the latest Impulse body spray. Obviously.

If Impulse wasn't your cup of tea, Armani She was the 'posher', go-to alternative.

These have been making more of an appearance recently, but they were definitely also a wardrobe staple in the 2000s.

This was the going-out-in-the-2000s uniform staple.

Wearing all of the silicone bracelets, altogether – because they went with everything right?

We absolutely smothered our lips in this shiny, sparkly gloss.

Body shimmer and body glitter was also an essential part of being party ready.

WKD Original was our favourite drink on a night out and it ALWAYS made us feel like the coolest person in the club.

If we were feeling super crazy, we'd opt for a Glen's Vodka over a WKD.

It literally burnt the inside of your mouth.

Back when we didn't have iPhones, we'd rely on our disposables to capture all the best moments from the night. Plus, if you dropped them, the screen didn't crack!

Dancing like no one was watching, and pretending we were in a Christina Aguilera music video.

Because Toxic was THE song of the 2000s!

Actually knowing all the dance moves to this summer hit. What did it have to do with ketchup though? ...

Even in the winter, a coat was a big no-no. Especially up north.

Disc belts, skinny belts or woven big buckle belts, we had a different belt for every outfit.

Forget skinny or boyfriend jeans, bootleg was the cut of the 2000s.

The more sparkly diamantes on your outfit, the better.

Low-rise jeans were also the style of the time. So low that everyone could see that you were wearing a super bright thong. Thank god high-waisted jeans came into fashion.

Gold hoops, especially J-Lo style, were in every nightclub. Iconic.

Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan were big on this subtle trend.

Then trying to stuff our giant Nokia phones in them and perhaps a lipgloss.

The heart Tiffany pendant was a status symbol. The clunky bracelet and necklace were adored by every girl in the early 2000's.

The velour tracksuit was the epitome of cool thanks to the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton. It was also totally acceptable to wear them on a night out ... though it got a little hot!

You knew it was a good night if you woke up to this next to your bed. Cold pizza for breakfast, anyone?

Nelly and Kelly's hit song Dilemma was our go-to jam, no matter the occasion.

Shaggy hair for guys was so attractive in the '00s!

When you were feeling woozy and wanted to avoid thinking about events from the night before, Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Joey, Ross and Phoebe were there to distract you from your hangover.

To be honest, that's still the case.

The thinner the better.

We would be listening to our homemade mixes while getting ready.

Ciara's 1, 2 Step was so complicated but looked super cool, so you can't blame us for trying, especially after a few WKD Blues!

The Nokia 7373 was one of many must-have phones of the '00s, but wow was it tricky to work after a few!

In the days before Uber existed, you would actually have to walk to a cab office and wait in line for a taxi to be available. At least you had somewhere to eat your food though!

If you were ever lucky enough to, well, get lucky, you'd reach for Extra Thin Ice Sheets to neutralise your cigarette and WKD Blue-smelling breath.

Who needed healthy, dead end-less hair, when you could opt for the poker straight look?

The omnibus of Hollyoaks was a saviour. It went on for hours, which meant you didn't have to move to get the remote and it was an easy watch, too.

If you couldn't afford a cab, your next best bet was the night bus. Shame they weren't as reliable as they are now ...

Before the ban came into place in 2007, you could smoke in clubs and pubs and it was pretty much the norm to come home smelling of cigarette smoke.

Foam parties were huge in the '90s and '00s before a time when you had to worry about your phone breaking. They were slippery, messy, but a real good laugh. However, getting home afterwards wasn't so fun.
